    Presidents' Letter:

The February meeting was called to order by Diana Sawin, Co-President. The minutes were accepted as printed. A special thanks to Sydney Allison, our Corresponding Secretary, about special events and happenings and news about our members. We wish a speedy recovery to Jeanne Gelwicks, who broke her leg. She's doing well and is up and using a walker. Also, a speedy recovery to Mary Ellen Taylor, who had surgery, again, in March. She hopes to be well enough to go to the Convention in Costa Mesa at the end of April.

Bobbie Mortensen sent the items to Mary Ellen for the LIFE FOUNDATION silent auction at the Convention. We donated a beautiful wall hanging and silk knitted scarf by Sydney Allison and a silk scarf and hat and a felted bag by Karen Mortensen, Bobbie's daughter. Diana and Bobbie will attend the Chi State Convention April 29-May 1 in Costa Mesa. We hope other Zeta Zeta members will be able to attend. The conventions are a lot of fun. Our guest speaker for the February meeting was Dr. Christine Batten, Cardiologist. She encouraged women to be aware of and to take charge of their own health. She spoke about the services offered at the Women's Health Center in Walnut Creek. We were given a "women's and heart" questionnaire survey, and this was followed up by a letter to each member containing the results plus a phone call. Dr. Batten was a wonderful speaker and gave us some great information.

Our program for April 25 will be given by the Scholarship Committee. The recipient grants will be awarded in September. See you soon.

    Diana Sawin and Bobbie Mortensen

The meeting was called to order at 6 pm by Diana Sawin, Co-President. A guest, Michelle Fitch, was introduced. She is a Special Day Teacher at Rancho Romero. Self-introductions were made by each of the members. Andre Moran told the Chapter about a program called "Stories to Go" that is facilitated by the County Library Association. Volunteers are always needed for this project. If you are interested go to the County Library for more information.

The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted. The treasurer reported a balance of $1638.17 in our checking account. There was no change in the CD account. Chi State Convention is April 29-May 1, 2005 at the Hilton Hotel in Costa Mesa. A quilted wall hanging is part of the silent auction for the Life Foundation. Registration fee is $40. There were no committee reports.

Materials are needed for the backpacks. Forty two backpacks were delivered last month. There is no meeting in March. February birthdays were recognized. Eileen Mortensen, a scholarship recipient sent a thank you letter to Zeta Zeta. She is a student at Holy Names. To become a member, one must attend 2 meetings plus the initiation. The business meeting was adjourned at 6:20 pm. The next meeting is Monday, April 25, 2005. The membership committee set up the program. The speaker was Dr. Christine Batten, a cardiologist with the Women's Health Center, John Muir/Mt. Diablo Health System. The presentation was very informative. Dr. Batten discussed several health issues concerning women. Respectfully submitted by:
